The Verve goes 'Forth' into a new era
DETROIT -- The Verve considers its forthcoming album "Forth," the reunited British group's first raw set in 11 eld, to be the start of its new era -- and the continuation of a career that's been interrupted by iI previous breakups.
"This definitely is an ongoing concern; it's not something that we're all just gonna pat away once more," bassist Simon Jones aforesaid. "Looking back, I don't think we had to be so blunt and, 'Alright, we're splitting up!' really. We should've just chilled out for a second and taken some time out, to be honest.
"But obviously we all had a deep yearning inside to experience back to do this or it wouldn't have happened. I just promise we don't split up again, now ... 'cause it becomes a bit pathetic, doesn't it?' "
Since reuniting in 2007, the Verve has played dates in Britain, Europe and the U.S., and Jones says the quartet is champing at the bit to get back to North America once "Forth" comes out on Tuesday.
"It's gonna be towards the end of this class or the beginning of the new one," he notes. "We've got such a good fan radix over there. We did so often touring early on and did Lollapalooza (in 1994). We did six dates earlier this year, and it wasn't enough. I want to visit all those places we've been where we know we've got fans and breathe life into these new songs from ('Forth'). That's definitely on our list of things to do."
Jones confirms that Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft is contractually obligated to record some other solo record album, but says it testament not interfere with whatsoever is next for the band.
"I don't think us being back together way we make to do a record book every year," Jones says. "We'll do it on our have terms and at our own pace. But, emphatically, all of us want to quest for this. It's something that means a lot to all of us. It's a bit of a shock to be doing it once more, but a very gracious shock, really."

Linda Bollea Wants Hulk Hogan Jailed With Incarcerated Son
The pair has been embroiled in a bitter war of words since Linda filed for divorce from Hogan, real name Terry Bollea, last November after 23 years of marriage.
At a hearing in April, Hogan was ordered to hand over the cash to Linda to finalise the buy, which they had been in the process of purchasing when he was hit with divorce papers.
The judge ruled Hogan must pay to complete the deal, after which the condominium would be considered a shared asset. The division of assets is to be decided at a later date.
However, according to legal documents filed on 2 June obtained by TMZ, Linda claims Hogan is in contempt of court because he has still not paid for the pad.
And she wants him locked up - in the same jail where their 17-year-old son Nick is currently serving his eight-month sentence for felony reckless driving charges.
In the papers, Linda's attorneys urge the court to: "Find the Husband (Hogan) in wilful civil contempt of Court for his failure to comply with the terms of the Court's Order Approving Stipulation as to Las Vegas Condominium Contract and for Related Matters."
They also call for the judge to: "Incarcerate the Husband in the Pinellas County Jail until he performs all necessary acts required by the existing Court Order, including providing the necessary funds to the Closing Agent and obtaining title to the aforementioned real property in joint names of the Husband and the Wife (Linda)."

Cannes Film Festival - All Eyes On Blindness At Cannes
The 62nd annual Cannes Film Festival gets under way tonight (Wednesday) with a screening
of Brazilian director Fernando Meirelles apocalyptic thriller Blindness, about
a plague of blindness that sweeps the world. The opening-night film is also competin
g for the festival's top prize, the Palme d'Or. In recent years, the Cannes jury
-- this year's is headed by Sean Penn -- has made selections for the prize that have
stunned many film journalists and critics in attendance -- but few have complained
about the choices. Writing in today's International Herald Tribune, Joan Dupont
commented that the festival "has a way of pumping up the action and planting a surprise"
during its final days. Nevertheless, the film receiving the most publicity at the fe
stival is George Lucas and Steven Spielberg's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of
the Crystal Skull., which is being screened on May 18, four days before its worldwide
theatrical bow. In an interview with the Associated Press, producer Frank Marshall said
that Cannes provides "the perfect launching pad, because we can bring the whole world
there." Meanwhile, today's (Wednesday) Los Angeles Times warns that along
with the movie world's glitterati the festival sees a swarm of criminals arrive
in town each year, although the town actively attempts to play down the annual crime
spike. Some victims told the newspaper that they were encouraged by their hotels
not to speak publicly about their losses. Emilie George, managing director of France's
Memento films, charged that there is an effort afoot "to stifle all sense of any criminal
doings during the festival in order to protect its image." But Nikki Parker, who
is in the business of protecting images as head of international publicity for PR
firm Rogers & Cowan, told the Times that she has been robbed -- twice -- at
the festival by cat burglars. Even A.O. Scott, the New York Times film critic,
said that he was robbed while he slept in his hotel room by burglars who took his
wallet and his principal tool of the trade, his laptop computer.
